Cookie Policy

Last updated 27 May 2026

QuoteBox uses a small number of cookies and similar storage technologies. This page explains which ones, what they do, and how you can control them. We don’t use any advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

What’s a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to remember. It might keep you signed in, or remember your preferences between visits. Sites also use related technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage) that serve the same purpose; we group all of these together as “cookies” for plain-English purposes.

What we use, and why

Strictly necessary

These cookies make the service work. You can’t opt out and still use QuoteBox. Under the UK PECR rules, strictly- necessary cookies don’t require consent.

  • Authentication session (set by Supabase) — keeps you signed in. Expires on sign-out or after extended inactivity.
  • CSRF protection — defends form submissions and server actions from being triggered by a third-party site.
  • Preferences — small UI state we keep in localStorage so the app remembers your last-used recorder settings, the “don’t show me this again” for first-use tips, and similar.

Analytics & tracking

We don’t use any third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking at present. If we add measurement in the future, we’ll update this policy first and ask for your consent through the cookie banner before any non-essential cookies are set.

Controlling cookies

You can clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. Most browsers also let you block cookies by default or per site — how to do that depends on the browser:

  • Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox — Preferences → Privacy & Security.

Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will stop the service from working — e.g. you won’t stay signed in between page loads.

Changes

We’ll update this page when our cookie usage changes. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
